Before he can do so, however, Rem kills Watari and L at the cost of her own life. After secretly snatching away Rem's Death Note, Light celebrates his victory in silence.

Rem (レム, Remu) is a shinigami partner of Misa and one of the secondary antagonists of the series. She is a secondary ally in the "Another Note" case as she helps to solve it by giving L details about her past.

The film was initially planned to be released on October 29, 2016, but was moved to June 17, 2016. On May 21, 2015, it was announced that the film will be a two-part live-action production, with Death Note: Light Up the New World being the first part and Death Note 2 being the second part; however, in November 2015, it was announced that they would be two separate films. The visual effects work of this film were provided by Osaka-based Oriental Light & Magic.

This is a story about how the world's greatest detective dies. It's not a funny story. It doesn't have a happy ending. And it's not for kids.
